Mr. J. MANIKANDAN, Secretary & Principal of Oriental Catering College Madurai. He is a courageous, confident and devoted person. He is a hard worker to up lift the catering & hotel management students & their career.

He had college education from Madura College & Thiyagarajar College. He had Post Graduate Hotel Management Diploma Course in Madurai Kamarajar University & very proudly we can say that he was the first batch of the Hotel Management course in MKU.

After getting education, Ist he had an experience in Hotel Industry namely Taj Groups of Hotels at Madurai, Chennai & Mumbai. Then he switched over from hotel industry to the academic side. He worked as a lecturer in Kodaikanal Christian College. Then he served as a principal in Indian Institute of Hotel Management.

In the Mean time, he had an ambition to start a Catering college at Madurai. The reason is to eradicate the unemployment among the youth by providing effective Hotel Management education. With the kind coordination of Mr. J. Shanmugasundaram & J. Suresh babu, Started Catering Institute in the name and style of Oriental institute catering technology&hotel management at Madurai in the year of 2002 with Government recognition.

He visited number of foreign countries namely Srilanka, Singapore, Malaysia and Dubai to promote hotel management education.

And he had given a lot of interviews to the Radio, Television and newspapers. He had written number of articles in the newspapers & Magazines regarding Hotel management education.

He is one of the key person to start catering colleges and Arts colleges in various cities like Chennai, Madurai, Tanjore, Thoothugudi, Nagapattinam and Sivagangai in Tamilnadu .

Besides he was a resource person to the National & International conferences organized by various colleges.

And he had produced thousands of hotel management graduates. Now they are all well placed in various Hotels, Restaurants, Railways, Airways and Crew ships in India as well as Abroad . He is the board member for Syllabus Review Committee and Inspection Committee for Hotel Management Discipline under Alagappa University.

J. SURESH BABU was born on 18.10.1969 as the son of Shri. V. Janakiraman Retired Revenue Official of Madurai District. Beginning his education career with his kinder garden studies at Fatima School, Madurai, proceeded further to Thiagarajar Model Hr. Sec. School & Virudhunagar Hindu Nadar Hr. Sec. School, where he has completed his School studies. From there he went on to The American College of high repute and fame to take his Bachelor Degree in Spl. Chemistry & P.G. Diploma. He then joined the M.K. University MBA Department where he past out in Good Academic Record.

Having completed his MBA Degree, He joined as a Centre Support Manager in APTECH Computer Education. He then went to Kualalampur - Malaysia as Analyst Programmer in Arab Malaysian Merchant Bank Berhad. After making use of this experience he went to London – U.K. as Software Consultant.

He had since return to India to set out with his first venture ORIENTAL INSTITUTE OF CATERING TECHNOLOGY & HOTEL MANAGEMENT, MADURAI, support with his brother Shri. J. MANIKANDAN, in the aim of Produce better Employees to opt into Hotel Industries in India & Abroad. He is an avid reader with wonderful collection of Books and has contributed thought provoking articles to leading National Dailies, Magazines and Intellectual Seminars. He has contributing Two Free Seats to economically weaker section candidates to study Catering Course worth Rs. 26,000/- since 2002.

For the development of Madurai Tourism & Heritage, he committed himself in the Madurai Travel Club & State level Advisor of Tamilnadu Hotel Association.

He is wedded to Shrimathi. INDRANI, M.Sc.,.Phil.,M.Ed., -Maths Lecturer & his blessed with one little son Shri. SHIVTHESH & one little daughter Baby. GEERTHANA LAKSHMI.
